"Emerging Topics in Wood Design Practice"

Kelly Cobeen, S.E., F.SEAOC
Wiss Janney Elstner

There are a number of new and emerging topics affecting wood design, coming from a range of sources and of interest to the structural engineering community. These include changes to codes and standards, results from performance based seismic numerical studies, timber industry developments in the areas of cross laminated timber and tall wood buildings, and issues related to performance of wood exterior elevated elements.

This presentation will discuss topics and efforts that practicing engineers should be aware of. The presentation will be at a conceptual level (no equations) and note available resources for those interested in more detail.
