Founded in 1947, the Structural Engineers Association of Central California (SEAOCC) is a professional organization of civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers, as well as representatives from affiliated fields that include contracting, industry, government, and academia. The goals of the association have been to establish high professional standards, to advance the science of structural engineering, and to provide the public with safe and economical buildings.
The Structural Engineers Association of Central California (SEAOCC) is a member organization of the statewide Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC). SEAOCC membership encompasses the central valley of California, stretching from the Oregon border to the north, Nevada (inclusive) to the east, Vacaville to the west, and Tulare County to the south. The other member organizations of SEAOC are the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC), the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC), and the Structural Engineers Association of San Diego (SEAOSD). All members of each regional association are also members of SEAOC and the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA), which links structural engineering associations from many of the states in the USA.
The success of SEAOCC in its efforts to serve the public and profession stems from the volunteer commitments of members working on the association’s Board of Directors and committees. The majority of association members are licensed engineers regularly engaged in the practice of structural engineering, who have joined the association to assist in fulfilling its goals and to keep abreast of current structural engineering advancements and practices. Membership in SEAOCC is encouraged for anyone interested in the profession or seeking an opportunity to serve the public, share knowledge or ideas, or otherwise help shape the practice of structural engineering. The association has monthly meetings from September through June to keep members informed of the latest engineering technology, research, and construction methods.
